Names are created in your browser from word lists and naming patterns — not by AI, and your keywords are not sent to our server. “Check .com” asks the public domain registry (RDAP) and Cloudflare DNS about that one domain. Always run a trademark search before you use a name.

How it works

Find a business name in three quick steps.

  1. Enter keywords

One to three words about what you do, plus your industry.

  2. Pick a style

Modern, brandable, professional, fun or short.

  3. Shortlist and check

Save favourites, check the .com and search trademarks.

How to use this business name generator

Type one to three keywords that describe what you sell or do — for example coffee, green cleaning or web design — and pick your industry so the ideas use words that fit it. Choose a style, or leave it on All for a mix, and set a maximum length if you want something short enough for a logo or social handle.

Press Generate names for 30 ideas. Save the ones you like to your shortlist (it stays in this browser), press More ideas for a fresh batch, and use Check .com to see whether the matching .com domain looks free.

What the name styles mean

  • Modern — your keyword joined to a short word or ending, such as “GetCoffee” or “Coffeescape”. Clear and current.
  • Brandable — invented words built from the sound of your keyword, such as “Cofora”. Easier to trademark and to find a domain for, but they need more marketing to explain.
  • Professional — classic patterns such as “Summit Coffee” or “Coffee & Co.”, suited to consulting, finance and trades.
  • Fun — playful and alliterative names for cafés, pet businesses and shops.
  • Short — up to seven letters, good for apps, logos and social handles.

How to choose a good business name

Say each shortlisted name out loud and imagine telling it to someone over the phone. If you have to spell it, explain it or repeat it, it will cost you customers. Good names are easy to say, easy to spell and easy to remember, and they hint at what you do or how you want people to feel.

Avoid names that only make sense in one city or for one product if you plan to grow. Skip hyphens and numbers, which people forget when typing a web address. Check that the name does not mean something unfortunate in the languages your customers speak, and look up the matching username on the social networks you plan to use.

Check the domain name

Check .com asks the official .com registry through RDAP — the protocol that replaced WHOIS — and double-checks public DNS. “Looks available” means no registration was found at that moment; it is not a reservation, so register it quickly if you love it. If the .com is taken, our domain name generator checks other extensions and variations, and our guide on how to buy a domain name walks through the next steps. To compare renewal prices before you buy, see the best domain registrars.

Search trademarks before you commit

A free domain does not mean a free name. Before you print anything, search official trademark databases for the same or similar names in your line of business. Useful free starting points are the USPTO trademark search for the United States, WIPO’s Global Brand Database, which covers many national and international registers, and the Intellectual Property India site for India. Company registries in your country will also tell you whether a business with the same name is already registered. This page is general guidance, not legal advice — for an important brand, ask a trademark professional.

How this generator works

This tool does not use AI. It combines your keywords with word lists for each industry and with naming patterns that brand designers commonly use: prefixes and suffixes, invented endings, place-style words, alliteration and short blends. That keeps it fast, free and private — everything happens in your browser and your keywords are not sent anywhere. The only outside requests are the optional .com checks, which ask the public registry and Cloudflare’s DNS about that single domain.

Once you have a name, the free invoice generator helps you bill your first clients, and how to start freelancing covers finding them.

Business name generator: frequently asked questions

Is this business name generator free?

Yes. There is no sign-up and no limit. You can generate as many ideas as you like and use any name you choose — just check domains and trademarks first.

Does it check if a business name is available?

It checks whether the matching .com domain looks free. It cannot confirm that a name is free to use as a brand, so also search trademark databases and your country’s company register.

Are the names made by AI?

No. Names are built in your browser from word lists and naming patterns, so results are instant and your keywords stay private.

What makes a good business name?

It is easy to say and spell, short enough to remember, fits what you do or how you want to feel, has an available domain and social handles, and does not clash with an existing trademark.

Can I save my favourite names?

Yes. Press “Save” on any idea to add it to your shortlist. The shortlist stays in this browser, and you can copy it in one click.

Should I get the .com for my business name?

A .com is the extension most people type by default, so it is worth having if you can. If it is taken, a country extension such as .in or .co.uk, or a short variation of the name, can work well.
