PDF converted to a CSV file

Nothing is uploaded

The PDF is read by your own browser. Etemora has no server step in this tool, so your paper never leaves your device.

Your columns, your format

Upload your CSV template and the output keeps your header exactly. Answers, formulas and image paths are written the way you choose.

Nothing is guessed

Answers come only from the PDF itself. Doubtful questions are marked so you can compare them with the original page and fix them.

How to Convert PDF to CSV

  1. Choose your PDF. You can also add your own CSV template so the output uses your column names.
  2. Pick the language and what the PDF contains, such as a question paper with an answer key, then press Convert PDF.
  3. Check the questions. Anything marked in orange needs a look; press Show PDF page to compare with the original and edit text, options or answers.
  4. On CSV columns, choose what goes in each column, the answer format (A, 1, a or option text) and how formulas are written.
  5. Press Create CSV, then download the CSV, or the ZIP with the CSV and all images.

What Does a PDF to CSV Converter Do?

A PDF stores text at fixed positions on a page. It has no idea which words make up a question, which are options and which line is the answer. A PDF to CSV converter rebuilds that structure and writes it as rows and columns.

This tool is made for question papers, mock tests and worksheets. It finds where each question starts, splits the options (A, B, C, D or 1, 2, 3, 4, also when they sit on one line), reads the answer key and the solutions section, and links each diagram to its question. Other PDFs can be converted page by page as plain text with the Not a question paper option.

CSV, short for comma-separated values, is the simple table format described in RFC 4180. Almost every spreadsheet, database and website importer can read it.

Can It Convert Scanned and Hindi PDFs?

Yes. Pages that are only an image, such as a scan or a photo, are read with text recognition that runs inside your browser. English, Hindi and papers that mix both are supported, and Hindi stays in Devanagari rather than being turned into Roman letters.

Text recognition is never perfect. Clean scans give very good results, while faint photocopies or phone photos can have mistakes. That is why scanned pages are marked and every question can be compared with its page before you download.

How Answers, Solutions and Images Are Found

Answers are taken in this order: an answer printed with the question (Ans: B, उत्तर: ख), an answer key section or table, then a solutions section. Keys written as 1. B, 1-B, 1 (2) or as a two-row grid are understood, and option numbers are converted to letters for you.

If the PDF does not give an answer, the answer stays empty. The tool does not solve questions or guess from the solution text.

Diagrams, graphs, tables and pictures are cut out as PNG images and linked to the question they belong to, including a diagram at the top of the next page. Repeated logos and watermarks are left out.

Using Your Own CSV Template

If you already import questions into a website, an app or a test platform, upload a CSV that has your column names in the first row. Columns such as Q No, Question, Option A, q_hi, Answer or Explanation are matched automatically, in English and Hindi.

For any column you can choose a field from the PDF, the same value in every row (for example the exam name), or a pattern such as {subject}-Q{number}. Columns the PDF has no data for, such as chapter or difficulty, stay empty rather than being invented.

Are My PDF Files Uploaded or Stored?

No. The converter is a program that runs in your browser tab. The PDF is opened from your device, read in memory and never sent to Etemora or anyone else. When you press Clear this file or close the tab, it is gone.

Only the converter itself is downloaded from etemora.com, together with the text recognition data the first time a scanned page needs it.

Accuracy: What to Check Before You Import

Digital PDFs made from Word or LaTeX convert very accurately. A few layouts still need a quick look, and the tool flags them: formulas built with an equation editor that come out in pieces, an option printed inside a stacked fraction, or a question that mentions a figure but has no image.

Use the Need a check filter to see only these questions, fix them next to the original page, then create the CSV.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a PDF to CSV converter?

It is a tool that reads a PDF and puts its contents into rows and columns that Excel, Google Sheets or a website importer can open. For question papers, this tool puts each question in its own row, with the options, the answer, the solution and any diagram in separate columns.

Is this PDF to CSV converter free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no paid plan. The conversion runs in your own browser, so there is no server cost to pass on.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The PDF is opened and read by your browser on your own device. Etemora never receives the file, and nothing is kept after you close or clear the page.

Can it read scanned PDFs?

Yes. If a page has no text layer, the tool reads the page image with built-in text recognition. This needs a one-time download of about 5 MB. Scans are less exact than digital PDFs, so the tool marks doubtful questions for you to check.

Does it support Hindi and bilingual papers?

Yes. Hindi stays in Devanagari, and papers that print each question in English and then Hindi are split into separate English and Hindi columns.

Will it fill in the answers automatically?

Only when the PDF itself gives them: an answer written with the question, an answer key, or a solutions section. The tool never guesses or works out an answer; if the PDF has no answer, the cell stays empty.

Can I use my own column names?

Yes. Upload a CSV whose first row has your column names. The output keeps that header exactly, in the same order, and you choose what goes into each column on the CSV columns step.

Will Hindi text open correctly in Excel?

Yes. The CSV is saved as UTF-8 with a byte order mark, which Excel and Google Sheets use to show Hindi correctly.

How are formulas saved?

Formulas are written as LaTeX, for example $x^{2}$, so they can be shown again on a website. You can also choose plain text or \\( \\) brackets.

What is in the ZIP download?

The CSV, every extracted image and diagram in an images folder, a list of the images with the question each belongs to, the full extracted text, and a short report.

Is there a size or page limit?

PDFs up to 20 MB and 100 pages can be converted. Very large scanned files take longer because every page has to be read from its image.
